Joshua N Amaechi, a.k.a. Dr. Rumba, trained in performing arts and African dance while still in school. He is a Media and Entertainment Award winner, making him the first African in Ireland to receive an international entertainment award.

In 1997 Dr Rumba came up with the dynamic name ‘AFRIMANIA’, which reflects his love for all things African and for all forms of dance and poetry which originate from Africa. Soon Afrimania became an entertainment company focused on not only performing for, but also on teaching and coaching audiences around the world.

In the last few years Afrimania has organised over 8 International Irish Salsa Congress, backed with well over 20 dance weekends and thousands of classes. Dr Rumba has taught the single biggest dance class in Dublin with about 700 people.

Today Dr Rumba has become a household name as the single most contributing factor to Salsa dance in Ireland; he is credited with developing Salsa dance as it is known today in Ireland. He was best described by the Evening Herald as a choreographer and entertainment entrepreneur. He was also once referred to as “Legendary” by a national newspaper.

Currently Joshua Tasia is the Director of: Afrimania Cornerstone, and the International Dance Academy in Dublin; as well as the host of the Irish Salsa Congress, the single biggest Salsa dance event in Ireland.

He is also the Director of the Festival of African Arts and Culture (FESTAAC) Ltd; his latest addition, as Afrimania is now working on the promotion of African culture in Europe.
