Choreographer, Performer
and Entrepreneur
Dr Rumba trained in performance art and African dance while still
at school. The development of this ability helped him in performing
all forms of dance and poetry that has its origin from Africa. Later,
he began to write and perform his works which soon made Afrimania
an entertainment company, performing, teaching, coaching and entertaining
audiences around the world.
Dr Rumba was best described by the Evening Herald newspaper as a
choreographer and entertainment entrepreneur, and “Legendary” by a
national newspaper. His infectious, charismatic, energetic and fun
loving style of teaching has made him the most contributing factor
to the development of Salsa in Ireland and has been credited with
the introduction of Salsa in Ireland as we know it today. Dr Rumba
has taught thousands of people since his arrival in Ireland with his
dance company Afrimania, most of his students have become the main
organizers and instructors of salsa in Ireland today. With a dance
theatre background, Dr Rumba teaches LA Style with amazing influence
of African dance movement and body techniques. This style has made
his dance really unique!
Having to deal with large numbers of people it quickly put him in
the frame and revealed his ability to handle audiences and help develop
him as one of the most prolific masters of ceremonies (MC), hosting
various events around Ireland and Europe from concerts of 25,000 people
to diplomatic gatherings, from large parties to weddings, Mr. Amaechi
is regarded as the most popular and influential African MC in Irelad.
Dr Rumba has been recognized for his talent and contribution to dance
and art from the press to award groups from around the world, he is
the organizer of the Irish Salsa Congress “Ireland’s longest running
Salsa festival”, the Founder of the National Dance Academy, director
of Afrimania Entertainment and choreographer and founder of Ireland’s
longest running salsa show group E4:24 (Afrimania Dance Company),
Festival of African arts and culture. Afrimania is also working on
the promotion of African Culture in Europe.

- Dr Rumba performed at the premier of "Gangs of New York"
in Ireland as the only dance act. The other music acts was Bono and
Edge from U2.
- Performance at the movie premier “Along came Polly”

2010)
- Host MC at people park as part of the Festival of world cultures
in Ireland (2007, 2008 & 2009)
- First Irish African to receive an Entertainment and Media Award (Planet
Africa Toronto, Canada October 2005).
- 10 years recognitions for contribution to Salsa dance in Ireland
- Named in the 50 most outstanding Africans in Ireland
- Salsa Ambassador Award in recognition of his dedication and contribution
to Salsa music and Dance – Salsa mambo festival California, USA July
